What GLC Believes About The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a vital part of our faith as Christians.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, along with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. The Holy Spirit lives inside every believer, guiding and empowering us in our daily lives. The Holy Spirit is our helper and comforter. Jesus called the Holy Spirit the "Paraclete", which means one who comes alongside to help. We all need help in life, and the Holy Spirit is there to provide that divine assistance beyond our own wisdom and strength. The Holy Spirit speaks to our spirit, giving us direction, wisdom, and comfort.

We believe the Holy Spirit leads and guides us. The Bible says that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Holy Spirit will lead us in all areas of our lives, not just in "churchy" matters. He wants to guide us in our jobs, our relationships, our finances, and every decision we make. We need to learn to be sensitive to that inner witness and leading of the Holy Spirit.

Our spirit is the key to hearing from the Holy Spirit.

We are first and foremost spiritual beings, not just minds or bodies. God speaks to our spirit, not just our intellect. We need to become more "spirit-conscious" and recognize that the Holy Spirit lives inside our born-again spirit. As we focus on our spirit rather than just our thoughts and emotions, we will become more attuned to the Holy Spirit's guidance. The Holy Spirit also empowers us through spiritual gifts. The Bible lists nine gifts of the Spirit, such as prophecy, tongues, and interpretation. These gifts are given to believers to build up the church and minister to others. As we yield to the Holy Spirit, He will manifest these gifts through us to bless and help people.

Ultimately, we believe the Holy Spirit is our constant companion and guide. He is always with us, ready to lead us, empower us, and minister to us. As we learn to walk in step with the Holy Spirit, we will experience the fullness of God's plan for our lives.

The Holy Spirit is essential to our Christian faith and we are grateful for His presence and work in our lives.
